The first two days of WAG competition at Asian Games were dedicated to the team final/prelims and all around final respectively. China dominated, taking fist place in the team event as well as all around, through Yao Jinnan (1st with a total of 57.900) and Shang Chunsong (2nd with a total of 56.950).
In the team competition the silver and bronze went to North Korea and Japan respectively. In the all around, on third place was Yun Narae from South Korea.
World medalist Hong Un Jong qualified in first place for the vault final (Amanar and Cheng) followed by Oksana Chusovitina and Dipa Karmakar. It will be a very interesting final as North Korea’s Ri Un Ha and Vietnam’s Phan Thi Ha Thanh also have good chances to medal (they were 4th and 5th in qualifications).
On bars, world champion Huang Huidan qualified from the 2nd position (15.450/6.8), her team mate Yao Jinnan taking 1st place (15.650/6.9). Yuriko Yamamoto from Japan was 3rd (13.750/5.5) but the gap of 1.7 -2 points between the Japanese and the two Chinese gymnasts will be almost impossible to overcome in the final.
Shang Chunsong had the highest qualifying score for beam (14.900/6.7). She was followed by three team mates – Bai Yawen will be the one joining her for the final (14.350/5.9). Also with chances for a medal will be Kim Un Hyang, 3rd place (non-Chinese) in qualifications.
On floor Shang Chunsong qualified from first position – she had highest difficulty score with a 6.0 (13.950); she was followed by Yao Jinnan (13.80/5.7); Chen Siyi was also very close (third in qualifications) with a score of 13.775/5.6 but will not compete in the final due to the 2 per country rule.
