As expected, the gymnasts from the US qualified with top results for most of the finals: in the all around, Amelia Hundley and Madison Desch had the top two totals (57.650 and 57.300 respectively); but don’t count them as gold and silver medal winners yet as Ana Gomez Porras (57.200) was just .1 behind Desch. Flavia Saraiva, on 4th, and Ellie Black (5th qualifier) can also aspire at a place on the podium if they compete cleanly on Monday.
Marcia Videaux Jimenes qualified with the top score to the vault final (Rudi and Tsukahara double); Yamilet Pena Abreu threw the most difficult vault of the day (Produnova/7.0) and made it through with the 3rd qualifying result. Also in the final, two Canadians – Chant and Black, and two Chileans – Franchesca Santi and Makarena Pinto.
The top qualifier to the uneven bars final was US’s Rachel Gowey (also second on beam). Other gymnasts with multiple event finals spots: Amelia Hundley (bars and floor), Flavia Saraiva (beam and floor), Jessica Lopez (bars and beam), Ana Sofia Gomez Porras (bars, beam, floor), Ellie Black (beam, floor).
