The senior all around final took place Saturday evening in the Liverpool Echo Arena. It was a glamorous event, reminding us of the presentation of the Glasgow Worlds (no flame throwers this time though).

In the women’s competition, Claudia Fragapane won the title with massive routines on all four events (58.100). She presented a DTY on vault for a 14.8; she survived her weakest event, bars with a 13.850. On beam she was rock solid despite a very difficult routine with standing Arabian, flick – layout full, standing back tuck full, double pike dismount. Claudia received a 14.700 for her difficult floor routine: full twisting double layout, pike Arabian, triple full and double layout to wolf jump on the last pass.  She is looking very good going into the Olympics summer, having maxed out on difficulty. I feel like Claudia now needs to focus on her execution, and on preserving her body as Rio is 4 months away.

This is Claudia’s beam:

Rebecca Tunney placed 2nd with a total of 56.350. She is having an interesting comeback, in an attempt to make it into the British Olympic team. It will be a tough road though, but it looks like Rebecca is doing all the right things for the time being: she re-introduced her double twisting Yurchenko for a 14.4 (low chest, big step), she was consistent on bars, with a 14.45, she was hesitant on beam, where she received a 13.55 (punch front tuck, punch front pike, side somi, flick-back tuck, switch half jump, double pike dismount), she was fantastic in her tumbling her floor routine for which she received a 13.95 (whip- double Arabian, full in, 1 1/2 to double back tuck, double pike to dismount).

Here is Tunney on floor:

On third place was Ellie Downie with an all around score of 55.250. Downie had mistakes on bars, for which she only received a 12.350. She was superb in her vaulting – 14.80 for her DTY . I feel like the judges didn’t do a good job separating between her DTY and Claudia’s which had many form issues. Ellie was focused and solid on beam – 14.550 for a routine with standing Arabian, double turn, switch leap to switch half, flick-layout stepout, 2 1/2 twisting dismount. On floor she received a 13.550 but really her potential is much better: 1 1/2 to double Arabian, followed by an Arabian double pike,  2 1/2 to punch front, double pike out of bounds.

This is Ellie on beam:

Amy Tinkler was in contention for 2nd place up until the last rotation, beam where she missed her mount and then fell again on her acro series (11.650). She had the highest vault score, with a 14.950, she received a good score for her bars 13.750, where she introduced an upgraded dismount (double-double), on floor she received a 14.35 for a massive routine with full in double layout, Silivas, 1 1/2 to double tuck and a double pike. Amy’s total score was a 54.700.

Ruby Harrold finished 5th with a 54.350 after falling on bars, while 6th was Kelly Simm with 53.850.

Rebecca Downie only competed on bars and beam, taking the highest scores of the competition on both 15.100 and 14.800 respectively.

Here are all the scores:

Thank you Craig for the results!
