The Vault Final and Uneven Bars Final were completed at the Varna World Challenge Cup this Saturday, May 14. Among the medalists, qualification order was mostly repeated with the exception of Poland’s Jurkowska-Kowalska nabbing third place on vault (Brazil’s Thuany Araujo, who placed third in qualifications, scratched) and Russia’s Evgenia Shelgunova and Switzerland’s Giulia Steingruber switching places on uneven bars.
The gold medalists on each event were in a field of their own, with Giulia Steingruber posting an average score of 15.134 on vault, and Russia’s Daria Skrypnik finishing a full point ahead of silver medalist and teammate, Evgenia Shelgunova, on bars. Her 6.7 D score and beautiful execution made up for a wonky full-twisting double dismount.
