The 2016-2018 Individual Apparatus World Cup series started last weekend in Cottbus. Melbourne, Baku and Doha will host the subsequent three editions. Gymnasts receive points according to their performance, after each meet; individual apparatus winners will get a prize of 5000 Swiss Francs at the end of the circuit. [more details]
Zsofia Kovacs from Hungary won three medals at the Cottbus World Cup: she was the best on bars (14,133/6.1) and beam (13,933/5.6) and also won a bronze on vault. Kovacs has a very successful 2016, especially at Euros in Bern, finishing third all around in qualifications (there was no all around final). In the event finals at Euros, she was 7th on vault (DTY, layout Tsukahara) and 5th on bars.
Emily Little from Australia won the vault title with a 14.299 (DTY, Tsukahara full). She also won the bronze medal on floor (13,533/5.5) and placed 7th in the event final on beam. Little was a part of the Australian teams at the 2012 Olympics, 2015 Worlds and at the 2016 Test Event.
16 year old Carina Kroll (from Germany) won the gold medal on floor and the silver medal on beam. Team mate Leah Griesser won the silver on floor.
