Flanders International Team Challenge is taking place this weekend (10-11 June), in Ghent, Belgium. Gymnasts from 14 countries (find the list of participants below), will compete in junior, senior and youth team competitions.
The first day of competition for the junior and senior level took place today. In each team there were five gymnasts competing in a 5-5-4 format (five compete, four scores count).
The senior team from Italy had the highest total – 208.861, followed by France 208.528 and Spain 203.361. In the all around competition, the Belgian Rune Hermans had the highest total 53.265, followed by Maellyse Brassart also from Belgium (53.099) and Lorette Charpy from France (52.999).
In the junior competition the Italian team had the highest total (209.961), followed by France (203.462) and Belgium 199.096. The Italian juniors swept the all around podium too: Sydney Saturnino was first with 53.365, Asia D’amato was second (52.732) and Elisa Iorio was third (52.199).
The FIT challenge will take place on Sunday afternoon, the juniors and seniors will compete together (10 gymnasts per team), 4 gymnasts will perform, 4 scores will count (2 senior and 2 junior). If a country has more than one senior or one junior country, only the top scoring team will qualify.
